Currently, we only provide hiking services for clients located in certain parts of Manhattan:

• below 35th St on the West Side and Midtown;
• below 96th St on the East Side.

A hiking plan/package offers the following benefits:

• discounted hike rate;
• reserved hiking spot(s) on the weekday(s) we have agreed on;
• discounted boarding rate (though, availability for boarding is not guaranteed).

Clients can sign up for a hiking plan by committing to a minimum number of hikes, and prepaying for them.

These prepaid hikes must then take place before the plan’s expiration date or else they’ll be lost. If a prepaid hike is canceled, we’ll make every effort to find another slot for it within the plan’s timeframe. However, we can’t promise availability on days not already reserved by the client.

Should clients wish to book extra hikes while their plan is still active, these additional hikes will be charged at their plan’s discounted rate.

Dogs are picked up between 8 – 10 AM and dropped off between 2-4 PM. The actual hike itself is for at least 3 hours.

We usually hike the trails with access to lakes in Harriman State Park. In the off-season, we may also take the dogs to a beach on the Rockaway Peninsula.

The dogs are safely transported in one of our minivans, with custom-partitioned interiors, to make their trip comfy and safe.

We hike with all our dogs off-leash.

The only times they are on a leash is when we pass by other people on the trail, and when the hike is almost over, on the last few hundred feet before getting back to the car.

All our hiking dogs wear GPS collars that, in case of emergency, allow us to track them for up to 10 miles.

While it’s likely for the same hiker to do a lot of your dog’s hikes, we cannot guarantee the same hiker every time.

Please note, though, that our team of hikers is quite small and they are all very nice people, with lots of hands-on experience hiking with dogs. All of them have been doing this with us for many years.

We only hike with 4 dogs per hiker, per car.

We’ve been providing hiking services in NYC since 2010 and in our experience, hiking with four dogs at a time strikes the perfect balance between the various competing aspects of this service. By comparison with all the other dog hiking companies in NYC that hike with 10~15 dogs at a time, we have:

• Highly reduced pick up and drop off times. Consequently, we spend longer time where it matters… on the trails.
• Relaxed transportation. We’re not crowding dozens of dogs in a pickup van. Our dogs have plenty of space to stretch and snooze in our cars, while we negotiate the NYC traffic.
• Personalized care. Watching 4 dogs at a time is a lot easier than watching 10~15 dogs at a time. This allows us to let them play off-leash more and explore further, rather than constantly corralling them into marching formations.
• Better friendships. Smaller groups allows dogs to form better friendships.

Ticks are very common in our neck of the woods and there’s nothing we can do to avoid them. We strongly urge you to vaccinate your dog for Lyme disease and treat her with flea and tick prevention medication. You can read more about ticks on our blog.
